Hanukah Party Menu

Tonight is the fifth night of Hanukkah, which means it’s still not too late to invite friends over for an informal celebration. Last Sunday, we hosted our family – 11 adults and 9 kids – and served the following menu. Between the potato pancakes, chicken, salad and cake, there was something for everyone. While the grown-ups finished eating, the kids (ranging in age from 2 to 17) participated in a competitive game of driedel, with dark chocolate gelt as their currency. Everyone had a blast! And best of all, when I asked my 4 year old about his favorite part, he didn’t mention all the presents, but instead said spending time with Grammy, Pops, Grandpa and all his cousins.
Here’s what we served…
- Latkes served with apple sauce and sour cream
- Roasted chicken and root vegetables (beets, parsnips, potatoes, squash, and fennel)
- Brisket
- Pear, manchego and pepitas salad
- German chocolate cake and lemon cheesecake
Plus, the aforementioned, dark chocolate gelt (we like Divine Chocolate)
